How does Report Builder Rank variables with time breakdowns (e.g. Hour, Day, Week)?
If you build a request for top 10 (i.e. pages) broken down by a time granularity (hour, day, week etc.) then report builder will return the top 10 pages over the total time period you’ve selected, rather than the top 10 in the first/last week, or the top 10 for each week.
Report Builder will also rank by the de-duped number of the metric selected. So if you are ranking pages by visits last week, broken down by day, it will be ranking the pages by the visit number for last week de-duped, rather than the sum of daily visits over the week. This means that if you were to sum the daily breakdown it may look like your pages haven’t been ranked correctly, but running the same report without the time breakdown (i.e. ‘aggregated’) will show the pages are in the correct order using the aggregated figure.
