Barcelona Bus Turístic

While we did make use of the metro it’s obviously designed to get people from A > B and as such doesn’t necesserily go as direct to all the places you might like to see if you’re visiting. I don’t know why I’ve not liked the idea of a ‘hop on hop off’ bus, I think it sort of seemed tacky but it was actually really great. The bus has 2 routes red and blue which go around a lot of major landmarks that you might want to see.

Bilbao Berria La Barra

So when I think of Spanish food I often think “tapas” but in some regions “pintxos” is actually more popular. At risk of getting it wrong while tapas are small dishes pintxos is more like ‘snacks’ nearly all served on bread. What I really enjoy though is you usually just go up and help yourself, then they count up the cocktail sticks (some are different for different prices) a bit like Yo Sushi counting the plates!

What Else

So there is so much to see and do in Barcelona we didn’t even scratch the surface in the few days we were there before we got on a cruise. However being my second visit I really recommend the districs El Born and the Gothic Quarter you can wonder the streets for hours (if that’s your thing).

La Rambla is the most well known and major street in Barcelona however it is very busy and like most cities there are some okay places but you’ll be paying a premium for it being the main tourist track. That being said there is Mercado de La Boqueria still very popular with tourists but has an amazing market full of all sorts of different things.

We did go up Montjuïc using the bus and tried the cable car, it’s a big area with lots of walking and some nice views however we spent a fair chunk of time at a tiny ‘hut’ that did the strongest sangria I’ve ever had for a VERY resonable price and just sat out in the park. We also went up to Park Guell but made the massive mistake of not doing our research and realising you had to pre-buy tickets and the walk around the outside was less ‘fun’.
